Say Yes to the Dress

On the popular television channel TLC, a popular show is called Say Yes to the Dress. The show consists of different brides and their families trying on different wedding dresses and trying to decide which dress is perfect for their wedding. But, every single time, something is out of the ordinary. Whether the family's desires are so bizarre or unachievable, or the bride is in some crazy circumstance. So, something tells me that these situations are set up. The extreme situations and problems that they have to try and overcome are purely for more viewers. Viewers are attracted to drama, and that is why many reality television shows are popular, and the show leaves you on a cliffhanger as you go to commercials. Cliffhangers of drama always keep bringing you in, so you have something to pay attention to and not skip to a new show, because you want to know what's going to happen next. A few years ago, one of my coaches and I were talking about the show, and she informed me that one of her friends was actually asked to be on the show. So, this proves that the family's drama and desires, or even being related at all, are all fake. This is even a little obvious because of how weird some situations can be, but it still attracts people to watch it. Humans are not attracted to real, but attracted to drama.

Madison and Vine in Stranger Things

Madison and Vine: the coming together of advertising products within entertainment and media. Product placement is everywhere is movie and television, some you may not notice or it is your main focus of attention. In the television show, Stranger Things, the famous frozen waffle brand of Eggos, is largely eaten by one of the main characters throughout all of the seasons. This brand has become a fixture from the first time we see the character, Eleven, steal many boxes from the store, to when she is living with Hopper and eating them for breakfast. This was very smart on Kelloggs part, because multiple episodes have parts of them simply revolving around the product. Advertisement is usually not like this, because before we mainly saw commercials in between shows, never integrated within them. Fans of the show will now increase Eggos sales simply because their favorite show or character likes them, so they want to be similar.Image result for eggos in stranger things

Sonic the Hedgehog Animation Change

Scheduled for February  14, 2020, is the movie, Sonic: The Hedgehog. This is a particularly interesting but hilarious piece of media to me, because the originally scheduled release date was for November 8, 2019. This drastic change was all because of the backlash that was received over the appearance of Sonic. His animation had more human-like characteristics with his physique and eyes. But, after the trailer was released, it was a laughing stock across many different platforms, especially twitter. The people of twitter basically made fun of the design because it seemed so outrageous to them. So, the animators went back and reanimated the entire character of Sonic. The media essentially bullied those creators into creating a whole new movie, three months after the expected time. They gave him larger eyes and a less realistic "human" body. This whole event is hilarious that people on social media voiced their opinions of an already made movie, and they reanimated the whole movie to appeal to the crowd. In reality, I do not even think the young adults and teenagers tweeting about it were going to be a large consumer of the production. Image result for sonic movie animation change

The Death of Jeffrey Epstein in the News

Jeffery Epstein, convicted sex offender and American financer, was rumored to have killed himself on August 10th while imprisoned. This strikes up a lot of controversies about whether or not he killed himself or was killed by someone hired to do so. He held a lot of unknown information on the Trump and Clinton families, which they would not want getting out. Also, the guards that were supposedly watching him every half hour for suicide, lied and did not actually go into his cell.
I looked at two different articles on this case, from The New York Times and Business Insider. Neither articles had frequent or any use of overused metaphors or phrases that Orwell describes as meaningless. But, The New York Times article was quite vague on which point of view they stood with, which may weaken their article. The writer described the events that happened the night of his death as if they were conspiracy side, but that was never clearly stated. Business Insider shows what their point is and backs it up with the evidence that they have. But, the writer still did not conclude that their point was the only view because of the evidence, which will strengthen their article. Still, neither news articles display a decay or language, because all of their words show direct facts, and cannot be debated. Although, in the Business Insider article, your view may be differed by how you define evidence. What the writer views as evidence may immediately swing you to one point of view, but you also may see that as having no correlation at all. So, while they did not use any overused words, some words can have different meanings to others.
