Madison and Vine: the coming together of advertising products within entertainment and media. Product placement is everywhere is movie and television, some you may not notice or it is your main focus of attention. In the television show, Stranger Things, the famous frozen waffle brand of Eggos, is largely eaten by one of the main characters throughout all of the seasons. This brand has become a fixture from the first time we see the character, Eleven, steal many boxes from the store, to when she is living with Hopper and eating them for breakfast. This was very smart on Kelloggs part, because multiple episodes have parts of them simply revolving around the product. Advertisement is usually not like this, because before we mainly saw commercials in between shows, never integrated within them. Fans of the show will now increase Eggos sales simply because their favorite show or character likes them, so they want to be similar.

I didn't even really realize the number of appearances that Eggos made in "Stranger Things" until now. I don't really like the idea of one of my favorite shows being a commercial with subliminal messaging.
ReplyDeletei never knew how big of an impact eggos had. Now that i think about it alot of people have bought eggos after the show.
